The Lies of satan You Believe

Lie: You Ruined My Life

Section One

Introduction

Has someone attacked you and ruined your life? Did your parents do things to ruin your life? If we will follow the words of Jesus, then we will never blame anyone for ruining our lives, no matter what anyone did to us. If you get to the point in your life that you truly believe that someone has ruined your life, then you swallowed the lies of the devil. He wants you to believe that your life has been ruined forever. Thinking again means we understand that the devil seeks to ruin our lives every day using our hurts from the past to convince us that someone has ruined our lives forever. Today, you must stop believing the lies of the devil and begin believing in the truths and loving power of Jesus. If you truly believe that someone ruined your life by some physical, emotional or spiritual attack, then you have not learned from Jesus how to handle such attacks. I urge you to think again using the words of Jesus to understand that no one can ruin your life when Jesus is your only Master. Do not misunderstand. Those attacks can be very painful and difficult to weather. But no matter how awful those attacks or how long they lasted, Jesus has all power to overcome all feelings that your life has been ruined forever. Never allow anyone but Jesus to have power over how you feel and how your life will go. Never give power over your life to the devil who wants to control your life as your master feeding you his evil lies all day, every day. Never let anyone but Jesus be your Master.  Jesus as God created us to have feelings, and He commands how we feel. He also commands us to follow His commandments regarding people who attack us in any way. Let us review the words of Jesus regarding how we handle attacks of all kinds. So, where do we begin?

Section Two

New Creation

2 Corinthians 5:17

Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come.

2 Corinthians 5:17

Overcoming the lies of the devil in your life begins with understanding salvation by faith in Jesus. At the moment of salvation by grace through faith, you became a new creature in Christ. The old things in our lives passed away. New things have come. So, if you say that someone has ruined your life, that someone may have damaged your old life before you believed in Jesus for salvation, but everything became new at the moment of salvation. Because you became a new spiritual creature at the moment of salvation, all the old things passed away. Only if we hang on to the past hurts will they continue to damage our lives. Only if we continue to believe the lies of the devil will we think that anyone ruined our lives. As a new creature in Christ Jesus, remember that all the old things have passed away and now we can live in the power of Jesus Christ and do His will each day. So, what does Jesus want us to do with our enemies?

Section Three

Love Your Enemies

Matthew 5:43-44

“You have heard that it was said, ‘YOU SHALL LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR and hate your enemy.’ But I say to you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you,

Matthew 5:43-44

Jesus taught us to love our enemies. Our enemies persecute us. Instead of reacting to them with normal, sinful human emotions like hating them and blaming them for all the things going wrong in our lives, we instead follow the commands of Jesus. So, we would never claim that someone ruined our lives because we learn from Jesus to love our enemies and pray for them. Consider how this simple truth from Jesus will change your life for the better and the glory of God. You can now replace hate with love and expect the power of God to help you love your enemies. You no longer will believe the devil’s lie that your enemy ruined you life. You can live a new life in Jesus today by following His simple command to love your enemies and pray for them. So, how do I deal with all my memories about all the bad things my enemies did to me?

Section Four

Forgetting the Past

Philippians 3:13-14

Brethren, I do not regard myself as having laid hold of it yet; but one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and reaching forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.

Philippians 3:13-14

Jesus confronted Saul of Tarsus, a persecutor of the church, on the Damascus Road and changed his life forever. Paul accepted the truth that Jesus was the Messiah of Israel and the Savior of the world. Paul had realized he had believed the lies of the devil about Jesus. After Paul received the free gift of eternal life by grace through faith in Jesus as Savior, Paul then reviewed all his religious achievements as a devout Jew, even a Pharisee under their religious laws. Paul seriously persecuted the church because he believed the lies of the devil. After trusting Jesus as Savior, Paul then reflected on that change and declared that he practiced forgetting all his achievements as an unsaved Jew. Instead of dwelling upon the past, he now pressed on toward the goal of serving Jesus Christ and pursuing the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. If you say that someone ruined your life, then remember to practice forgetting the past and press on toward the goal of serving Jesus Christ each day. Pursue the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus today. So, how do we learn to forget the past and pursue the goal and prize of Jesus?

Section Five

Confession of Your Sin

1 John 1:9

If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

1 John 1:9

At this point, you may realize that you have believed the lies of the devil, instead of forgiving your enemies and forgetting what they did to you. Because we live as new creatures in Christ Jesus, we must confess our sins. Confession means that we say the same words that God says about our sinful actions. Therefore, we must confess that we have believed the lies of the devil about someone ruining our lives. Next, we must believe that God is faithful and righteous to forgive us and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. Believing the lies of the devil makes us spiritually dirty. We need God to cleanse us from our sins. Cleansing here means that because we were forgiven of all sins at the moment of salvation by grace through faith, we now experience God’s daily cleansing in our lives as we confess daily sins. Therefore, we confess our sins, believing in God’s faithfulness and righteousness as He cleanses us from all sins. In this case, God cleanses us from wrongfully believing someone has ruined our lives. Now, we trust God to cleanse us from the sin of believing the lie of the devil that someone ruined our lives. As life goes on, we may tend to believe the lies of the devil. As soon as we identify the spiritual attack by the devil spreading his lies into our lives, we will confess our sin and trust God to cleanse us from believing such lies. So, how do we defend against believing the lies of the devil?

Section Six

Armor of God

Ephesians 6:11

Put on the full armor of God, so that you will be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil.

Ephesians 6:11

We defend against believing the lies of the devil by first identifying them as fiery darts of the devil. The moment we begin to consider that someone has ruined our lives, we must stop and identify the spiritual attack coming against us from the devil and his lies. Many people in Christ never truly appreciate that all saints live in constant warfare with the devil and his minions. We must wear the entire armor of God described in Ephesians 6. Each day by faith be must put on the armor of God. In doing so, we will be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil. Please take notice that the devil schemes against you. He watches you and knows your weaknesses. The devil loves to attack you spiritually by telling you lies so that you will believe them. When the devil tells you to blame someone else for all the problems in your life, you will know that Jesus wants you to pray for your enemies and love them. You will rely upon the armor of God to protect you from believing the lies of the devil. Jesus must remain our only Master as we wear the armor of God each day.

Section Seven

Conclusion

In conclusion, we must recognize the lies of the devil we believe. He greatly deceives believers by telling them lies that draw them away from following Jesus today. The lies of the devil can remain in our lives for decades. As we understand and heed the words of Jesus contained in the Bible, we will confess our sins of believing the lies of the devil. Instead, we rejoice in the cleansing power of Jesus removing those lies from the devil from our lives for good. The armor of God provides the perfect defense against the lies of the devil. Will you wear your armor of God today and reject the lies the devil tells you today? By the grace of God we will can live in the triumph of Christ Jesus every day and forget the lies of the devil we once believed.
