Giving Thanks Today
“All Your works shall give thanks to You, O LORD, and Your godly ones shall bless You.”
Psalm 145:10
If you do not recall a day in your life when you received eternal life as a free gift from Jesus, then this article will not make sense to you. Please click the eternal life button now and learn more about finding peace with God and being born again today.
Do you remember the last time you gave God some heartfelt thanks? Perhaps your biopsy came back clean. Maybe you opened the mail and found out you dreams really were coming true. You got the promotion, made the bonus, or had a date with someone special. Perhaps Jesus spared the life of your child. Many people thank God for the great things God does in our lives. In Psalm 145:10, David emphasizes that all the works of God will give thanks to the LORD.
I remember the story of the ten lepers Jesus cleansed (Luke 17:11-21). Jesus told the lepers to go and show themselves to the priest, and while they were going, they were all healed. Only a Samaritan among them returned to give glory to God. All ten had received the enormous blessing, but one foreigner had faith that prompted him to glorify God. So often the great blessings from God sail right past us, and we do not give thanks. David also emphasized that all of the works of God would rise up to thank Him. I cannot wait to see that day.
I look forward to being in the heavenly throng praising God in the Book of Revelation. With all of the myriads upon myriads in heaven, I will rise up and bless the name of God. I cannot wait to bend my knees in heaven and confess that Jesus Christ is Lord to the glory of God the Father (Philippians 2:10-11). All the works of God and all the people of God will bless the LORD.
Today, I am going to get an early start on being part of the works of God giving thanks to Him. I am going to bless His name, because of His goodness, mercy, and lovingkindness, especially to me. When I think of all the works of God, I remember that the rivers shall clap their hands and mountains will sing together for joy. The sea will roar and all it contains, along with the world and those who dwell in it. In the presence of the LORD, when He comes to judge the world with righteousness, and the peoples with equity, all creation will rejoice and bless His name (Psalm 98:7-10). Today, I will reflect upon God’s goodness, and how He has poured out His mercy upon all the earth.
Application for Today
Today with joy and thanksgiving in my heart, I will feel the Holy Spirit of God prompting me to bless the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. I am going to join with all His works and all His godly ones to give thanks and bless Him. He has done everything for me, and demonstrated God’s love by dying for me, while I was yet a sinner. Every time I consider that Jesus became sin for me, and endured the shame of the cross for me, I want to bless Him. I know He was raised from death to sit at the right hand of God until God makes His enemies His footstool. But today, like the Samaritan leper, I want to fall at the feet of Jesus and bless His great works in my life, in your life, and in all creation. Will you join me today?
