Power and Glory Today

“They shall speak of the glory of your kingdom and talk of Your power.”

Psalm 145:11, Page 998

Who did you tell today about God’s power in your life?  Many people I know never think much about the Kingdom of God and the power of the King.  In Psalm 145, David explained why he will praise God every day for ever and ever.  He remembered the mighty acts of God, and knew that all creation shall give thanks to God for His mercy and goodness.  By the power of God, David has trained His mind to focus upon the power of God working in His life.

Have you ever noticed what people like to talk about?   Often, they enjoy talking about themselves.  Recently I heard about a young man talking about happiness.  He said he was happier now because he had abandoned all his false faith in God.  He meant that he used to go to church, but never really believed in God.  He went to church in his teenage years to meet girls, but now has stopped going altogether.  He liked some of the people he met in church, but he never really believed that Jesus gave His life for anyone.  The young man now doubts that Jesus ever existed.  Having given up his pretend religion, the young man now focuses primarily upon himself.  He enjoys having sex with his girlfriend, drinking alcohol, living just for himself without any pretense of God, making some money, and putting himself first in all things.   He said he has become much happier living just for himself.  I imagine you know someone just like this guy.  I love his honesty and know that God loves all humans.  Like so many other people, he had never witnessed the power of God transforming his life by faith.   He had walked into a church building many times, but he never entered the Kingdom of God by faith.

Jesus talked about the Kingdom of God in the New Testament.  He told a teacher of the Jews, named Nicodemus, that “unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God” (John 3:3, page 1657).  Nicodemus had no idea what Jesus was talking about.   Jesus explained further “unless one is born of water and the Spirit he cannot enter the kingdom of God” (John 3:5, page 1657).   Jesus meant that one must be born again spiritually to enter the Kingdom of God.   We enter the Kingdom of God by faith alone, and it is not a church building.   As a child, I believed that Jesus died on the cross for my sins.  I asked Jesus to forgive for my sins and I believe He forgave me, just as He promised.  I felt the power of God in my life filling me with joy that my sins have been forgiven forever.  Spiritually, I had been born again.  Jesus told His disciples that “whoever does not receive the kingdom of God like a child will not enter it at all” (Luke 18:17, page 1636).  Jesus died for me, and rose again to live His life in me.    Now, I see His power at work in my life.

Jesus taught that His kingdom was not of this world.  He testified to the Roman Governor Pilate: “My kingdom is not of this world.  If my kingdom were of this world, then My servants would be fighting so that I would not be handed over to the Jews; but as it is, My kingdom is not of this world” (John 18, 36, page 1692).  Flesh and blood cannot enter the Kingdom of God (1 Corinthians 15:50, page 1802), and it does not depend upon talk, but upon power (1 Corinthians 4:20, 20, page 1786).   Of course, one day Jesus will come back to earth to fulfill all the promises He made to the nation of Israel and to be its King, reigning over all the earth from Jerusalem (Zechariah 14:9, page 1493).   Until Jesus returns in His glorified body, we live as believers in the invisible Kingdom of God.   As believers in Christ, we experience daily many of the spiritual blessings of the power of the Kingdom of God.   We also see Jesus displaying His awesome majesty.

King David witnessed the offerings for building the temple of God.  The people of Israel gave of their riches as an offering for the construction of the great building in Jerusalem.  As David reviewed the tremendous gifts, he said:

“Blessed are You, O LORD God of Israel our father, forever and ever. Yours, O LORD, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the victory and the majesty, indeed everything that is in the heavens and the earth; Yours is the dominion, O LORD, and You exalt Yourself as head over all.  Both riches and honor come from You, and You rule over all, and in Your hand is power and might; and it lies in Your hand to make great and to strengthen everyone. Now therefore, our God, we thank You, and praise Your glorious name” (1 Chronicles 29:11-13, page 690).

God never need men to build a house for Him, because heaven is his throne, and the earth is His footstool (Isaiah 66:1, page 1174).  Instead, Jesus teaches us that He dwells within our hearts (John 15:1-11, page 1686).

Application for Today

Today I will speak of the glory of the Kingdom of God.  I will looking for King Jesus, working in the lives of everyone who submits their hearts to Him.  I will His glory in their lives, as they live in His eternal Kingdom.  I will talk of the power of God in my life, and let my friends know about all the great things Jesus has been doing for me.  I see His glory all about me, especially in other believers yielded to His power.  As we go through this Memorial Day weekend in the United Sates, we should not only remember all those soldiers who gave themselves to military service, but also we should be talking of Jesus and His power, majesty and glory.  I look forward to meeting new people this weekend and encouraging my friends by talking of His majesty and power.

 Christ Assembly Basics

Christ Assembly provides free access to various studies from the Bible, the Word of God. The studies in this website are not inspired, but God produced the Bible, consisting of sixty-nine books (39 Old Testament and 27 New Testament). The Holy Spirit inspired authors to produce original autographs of the Bible in Hebrew, Aramaic and Greek. Those original authors wrote over the course of many centuries. They wrote divinely inspired words and every word was divinely inspired. The authors communicated in their own styles, and with their own vocabulary, but God breathed out every word of the final autographs. The words in the Bible really matter, and deserve careful study.

As we study, we seek to love Jesus more because His word has instructed us so that we learn His ways. Eternal life consists in knowing God the Father, and Jesus Christ Whom God sent. As the eternal God of Glory, One with His Father, the Son of God took flesh and dwelt among us. Because of His death, He used His blood to purchase our redemption. He was raised for our justification. We now live by faith in the Son of God, Who loved us and gave Himself for us. By the grace of God, the Holy Spirit abides in every born-again believer and fills us with His presence and blessings. He leads us into all truth. Jesus is the truth, and the way, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Jesus, our Lord.

We look forward to His imminent return to the clouds of earth, to snatch away the believers alive on earth, so that we may be forever with the Lord. When He returns to the clouds, He will bring with Him all those people in Christ who died before His return to the clouds. We encourage one another with the promises of God, Who makes our path grow brighter and brighter, until the full light of day shines forth. We love Jesus and look forward to seeing Him soon. After Jesus removes the believers from the earth, then a terrible period of seven years follows where God brings measured and precise judgments upon the people alive on earth. God cut those days of  Tribulation short, or no flesh would have been saved. Jesus will then return to earth, slay His enemies, and place His feet on the Mount of Olives where He ascended to heaven. He will then reign on earth for a thousand years, and believers will reign with Him. After the Millennial Reign of Christ, all unbelievers will be judged at the Great White Throne Judgment, and they will suffer according to their deeds done on earth. They will be cast into the Lake of Fire, a place of torment night and day for eternity, because they never received the free gift of salvation while alive on earth. One day, every knee will bow and every tongue confess that Jesus is Lord, to the glory of God. Today we invite you to come and see Jesus, and learn from Him, for He is gentle and humble in heart. Take His yoke upon you, for His burden is easy and His yoke is light. He will give you rest for your soul as you trust Him. We receive salvation only from Jesus, by faith alone in Jesus, Who gives us the free gift of eternal life.

We accept the teaching of the Word of God. As born again believers, baptized by Jesus with the Holy Spirit, the anointing from God teaches us all things. We love to study the Word of God as we abide in Christ Jesus our Lord. God blesses all of us when we read His word, hear His word, and heed His word. We share original studies of the Word of God without cost and we do not receive donations. We support the finances of this ministry through private means, so that we are not a burden to anyone. We oppose charging people to read books, articles, journals or other studies of the Word of God. Such work should be supported by donations, but not in prescribed amounts and not as a requirement to gain access to what God has freely provided. What God has freely given, we should freely share. Just as Paul worked making tents, so we work to support this ministry.
